Fabrix Testimonial

“We are always looking for opportunities to reimagine overlooked and underused urban space. When we acquired Symes Mews, the building was disjointed and dark with layers of old and new colliding from decades of different use.”

Located in the London Borough of Camden, Symes Mews delivers sustainable design-led offices on a former furniture warehouse & art gallery site. The project began with a forensic analysis of the qualities and capacity of the existing structure and wider plot, exploring fragmentary infill and extension options whilst seeking to deliver a light touch fit out which maximises the opportunity of the building for creative workspace.

The masterplan saw the construction of a new reception building, breakout spaces and private courtyard gardens to supplement the office spaces. With a long thin plan, limited natural light and constrained outlook; the scheme has been carefully developed to bring natural light into the deepest parts of the plan. Symes has undergone an extensive refurbishment to bring the space up to contemporary standards of BREEAM ‘Very Good’ with the renovation retaining as much of the existing structure as possible.
