Two mews houses have been carved out of a converted 19th Century commercial building in a London suburb. The local conservation area provided a series of challenges to the design but the ultimate solution was to create hollowed out spaces within the historic fabric of the existing building.
Light wells and cut outs bring light deep into the building and the houses themselves are designed around a number of protected private and intimate external spaces. Interior spaces are starkly modern and glazed access to terraces blur the boundaries between inside and out.
